Blakely "Blake" Hanson

February 12, 1996 — February 13, 2024

Blakely “Blake” Hanson (they/them/theirs), 28, of Denver, Colorado, passed away on Tuesday February 13th, 2024.

Blake left their mark each day with impressive automotive and tinker hobbies, house projects, activism, rich friendships and devotion to their cats. They will be forever loved and remembered for their playfulness, creativity, eagerness, and uncompromising beliefs. As a proud transgender, non-binary, and autistic person, Blake boldly faced negative societal treatment around gender identity, neurodivergence, and depression. Eventually, these forces became too much to bear.

Blake is survived by those who loved them as they were: wife Sydney Stetzel (she/her/hers) and the Stetzel family; siblings Ashley Hanson (she/they), Savanna Hanson (they/them/theirs) and Jaxon Zeller-Thorson (he/him/his); many caring friends and chosen family; and cats Sesame and Anubis. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a pro-transgender organization of your choice, Planned Parenthood, or to the family’s GoFundMe.

The family would like to remind all to honor and remember Blake by their chosen name, pronouns, and otherwise gender-neutral terms in perpetuity.
